Get ready to dance, twirl, and celebrate! Join us for a joyful Simchat Torah celebration just for our youngest friends. There will be plenty of music, movement, and smiles — followed by a yummy dinner for all. Come celebrate the joy of Torah with us! While older siblings are always welcome, Chai There programming is designed for children ages 0-5 years. Please register.
In an opinion piece for the NYT, Morton Weinfeld, Chair of the Sociology Department of McGill University, posited that kibitzing and schmoozing are distinct social behaviors. He theorized that “to schmooze is to engage in a relaxed, amiable, meandering conversation.” Kibitzing, however, “is competitive, more like repartee. A needle here, a bon mot there, a quip, a put-down, a non sequitur are the kibitzer’s stock in trade.”
Whether you are a schmoozer or a kibitzer, please join us for a few minutes of socializing before our Simchat Torah services. We’ll enjoy a small nosh – or would that be a bissel – to power up for dancing with our Torahs.
Celebrate with us as we restart the reading of the Torah! Simchat Torah services are fun and joyful for people of all ages, and involve a lot of singing and dancing with the Torah (or smiling and watching as others dance). During the service, there will also be a blessing of Consecration welcoming kindergarteners and new first graders into our religious school.
