Calling all TRS Travelers! Taking a trip with other members of Temple Rodef Shalom is always a great way to learn more about the diversity of Jewish communities worldwide but also a way to meet other members.
We have a few exciting TRS trips under construction for the next year and want to get the word out about destinations and dates! If any (or all!) of these destinations are of interest, please register for more information and pencil us in. We look forward to traveling with you.
Here is a line-up* of the trips we are planning:
Led by Rabbi Amy Schwartzman , Rabbi Jeff Saxe and Rabbi Sarah Tasman
Led by Rabbi Alexandra Stein and Director of Congregational Engagement Cookie Mandell
Montreal, Northern Neighbor, Jewish Soul
Spanning from the Sephardic presence in the 1760s to the waves of Eastern European and North African immigrants in the 19th century, Montreal’s Jewish history continues to unfold in all its vibrancy and diversity. Join Rabbi Alexandra Stein and Cookie Mandell, Director of Congregational Engagement, on a 4-day, 3-night tour of Montreal. We will visit cultural centers in areas like Mile End…and soak up a little Yiddish, chow down on some “Montreal bagels,” and learn more about this diverse and resilient community. We’ll begin our trip on Thursday, May 21, with a welcome dinner and a lively group study since it will be Erev Shavuot. The next night, we will observe Shabbat with the Reform congregation, Temple Emanu-El Beth Sholom, dating from the 1880s. We’ll officially conclude our tour on Sunday, May 24.
