TRS Social Justice Committee invites you to a Havdalah & Potluck Dinner: Plugging in with Local Climate Action Leaders
Join us for Havdalah, a vegetarian potluck dinner, and conversations with local climate action leaders on how we, as concerned congregants, can take part in climate actions together. Ann Bennett, who grew up at TRS, is leading the charge for the Sierra Club Virginia Chapter in fighting irresponsible data center growth and to hold our officials accountable in state-level policy and local proposals, such as the proposed Tyson’s Corner data center. Ting Waymouth, Northern Virginia Organizer for Chesapeake Climate Action Network (CCAN), will update us on the Commonwealth’s progress toward compliance with the Virginia Clean Economy Act of 2020, and how CCAN is mobilizing citizens to demand sustainable energy in our region. A Go Electric DMV coach will provide guidance on switching to clean energy sources at home, such as solar power, efficient appliances, and electric vehicles.
Don’t miss this great opportunity to connect with fellow congregants on these urgent issues.
When: Havdalah starts promptly at 6:00 PM; the event ends by 9:00 PM.
