I’m New

Welcome!

Welcome to Temple Rodef Shalom! We’re glad you’re here.

Whether you’re Jewish or exploring Judaism, new to the area, returning after time away, or just curious, you are welcome at TRS!

We are a thriving, inclusive, diverse, sacred, Reform Jewish congregation located in the Northern Virginia suburbs just outside Washington, DC. Since our founding in 1962, we have grown into the largest Jewish congregation in Virginia, serving over 1,800 households from close–by communities like McLean, Arlington, Falls Church, and Vienna, as well as those who live further afield across the DMV.

What Is Reform Judaism?

Reform Judaism is a modern, inclusive expression of Jewish life rooted in tradition and guided by values of compassion, learning, justice, and community.

At TRS, Reform Judaism means:

Asking meaningful questions
Honoring tradition while embracing contemporary life
Welcoming people of all backgrounds, identities, and family structures
Living our values through worship, learning, and action

There’s no single way you’re expected to believe or practice in order to belong.

What to Expect When You Visit

You can dress comfortably (there is no dress code)
Much of the service is in English, with Hebrew transliteration
You’re welcome to participate as much or as little as you’d like
We are happy to answer questions, and no registration is required
