1. I’m New

Welcome!

Welcome to Temple Rodef Shalom! We’re glad you’re here.

Whether you’re Jewish or exploring Judaism, new to the area, returning after time away, or just curious, you are welcome at TRS.

We are a thriving, vibrant, inclusive, diverse, tolerant, sacred, loving Reform Jewish congregation located in the Northern Virginia suburbs just outside Washington, DC. Since our founding in 1962, we have grown into the largest Jewish congregation in Virginia, serving almost 1,800 households from McLean, Arlington, Falls Church, Vienna, and other communities across the DMV.

We want to help you feel oriented, comfortable, and confident taking a next step.

What Is Reform Judaism?

Reform Judaism is a modern, inclusive expression of Jewish life rooted in tradition and guided by values of compassion, learning, justice, and community.

At TRS, Reform Judaism means:

  • Asking meaningful questions
  • Honoring tradition while embracing contemporary life
  • Welcoming people of all backgrounds, identities, and family structures
  • Living our values through worship, learning, and action

There’s no single way you’re expected to believe or practice in order to belong.

What to Expect When You Visit

Shabbat Services are a great way to get to know us! They take place on Friday evenings and Saturday mornings and include music, prayer, reflection, and community.

  • You can dress comfortably (there is no dress code)
  • Much of the service is in English, with Hebrew transliteration
  • You’re welcome to participate as much or as little as you’d like
  • No prior experience is required

Greeters and staff are happy to help you find your way. Click here to visit our calendar to check for the next Shabbat service.

  • Kids are always welcome in worship
  • Family-friendly and multigenerational experiences are part of our community
