TRSTY is a local youth group welcoming members of Temple Rodef Shalom in Falls Church, Virginia. We are committed to meeting the needs of each child through fostering Jewish identity, strengthening a sense of community and providing learning experiences to shape a lifetime of contemporary Jewish living based in Jewish values.
Lil’ TRSTY is just for our 3rd-5th graders. Lil’ TRSTY is a great opportunity for your child to meet and become friends with other Jewish kids their age. All events are supervised by adult youth professionals.
Jr. TRSTY is geared just to our 6th-8th graders. All of the events are planned by the youth engagement team with input from Jr. TRSTY members. All events are supervised by adult youth professionals.
TRSTY is Temple Rodef Shalom’s youth group for grades 9 through 12. All events are planned and led by teens. TRSTY teens have the freedom to plan their own events, develop leadership skills, and work together to create a thriving teen community.

While we always encourage TRS youth to attend Religious School, TRSTY is open to all TRS children and friends. They do not need to be registered for Religious School.
Yes, youth groups are open to everyone.
At TRS, we believe that it is important to give our kids lots of fun, social time to enjoy each other, but there is usually some form of teen-organized, teen-led Jewish tradition included. The kids really “own” and enjoy these activities!
We’d be delighted to have you join the Youth Committee! We’re a friendly, low-key group that generally meets only once a month during N’tivot on Sunday evenings from 5:30-7:30. Cantor Sydney Michaeli is our clergy liaison. You can also volunteer to be a chaperone, host an event at your home, or offer to help with setup or cleanup of events. Feel free to reach out to anyone listed below and we’ll make you feel welcome!
One of the benefits of having a full-time Director of Youth Engagement is that this person works closely with the kids to assure that everyone feels welcomed and included. It’s their job to get to know and develop relationships with and between the kids, as well as to create an overall positive experience.
There are always adult chaperones on-site during all TRSTY activities. Chaperones must be at least 21-years-old and there is a ratio of 10:1 kids to chaperones.
