As we approach the 1-year anniversary of the tragic attack on Israel, our community will share in the remembrance of October 7, 2023 at three different gatherings held across the region. We will honor the memories of those who died, and support one another as we look to the future. Everyone is invited to participate in the event, or events, that feel meaningful for them.

The Jewish Federation of Greater Washington, JCRC, and Washington Board of Rabbis invite the Washington area Jewish community to join thousands from across the Greater Washington Jewish community to commemorate one year since the horrific attacks in Israel that changed our world forever. Together, we will unite for an evening of remembrance, resilience, and hope for a brighter future. This event is free to attend but registration is required. Bus Transportation Available!
Temple Rodef Shalom has arranged for transportation to and from The Anthem in SW DC. We will depart promptly; so, please be at the temple no later than 5:30 PM. Information on where to meet the bus for the return trip home will be provided at drop-off. The cost will be $25 per person for members or $30 per person for non-members. Resilience and Hope: An Evening of Art and Storytelling
(Out of Building) at Pozez Jewish Community Center of Northern Virginia
This evening is designed to encourage conversations about resilience and hope through an artistic lens. The program will explore Israel’s post Oct 7 reality through varied art forms, helping to examine the consciousness of Oct 7 in a different way. Participants will be invited to experience several creative spaces to listen to the personal stories of the artists, take a closer look at how life in Israel has changed over the year and engage in conversations with artists and other participants. Following the sessions, appetizers and drinks will be served.
Oct 7, 2023 as marked on the Jewish calendar, is commemorated two days after Sukkot, on the 27th day of Tishrei, which is falling on Oct 27 this year. This date was established by the State of Israel to commemorate the horrific events of Oct 7.
