Forty+ years ago and new to Northern Virginia, my husband Joel, our 2 sons Greg and Brian, and I joined the Temple. We were the 250th family at TRS. The Temple quickly became our second home as we all eagerly dove in to a variety of activities . . . I with teaching 2nd grade and Jewish Cooking in the Religious School, and joining the Temple Board; Joel with co-leading the Brotherhood and becoming a member of the TRS baseball team. Our sons enjoyed their Jewish education and youth group involvement, and experienced all the wonderful life cycle events of our Jewish life including confirmation, Bar Mitzvah, marriage and baby naming. For me, my involvement with Temple Rodef Shalom is summarized with the following words: love, community, sharing, contributing, spirituality, education, Jewish culture, friendship, fun, support and the opportunity to grow as both a Jewish woman and individual. And to top it all off I get to share my Jewish journey at TRS with my two grandsons Jared and Ian. Life does not get any better than this.
