In response to Rabbi Schwartzman’s Rosh Hashanah call to protest rising anti-Semitism by living robust Jewish lives, the Adult Education Committee is pleased to announce “Rodef Reads.” Over the course of 2018/2019, the congregation will take a deep dive into the Jewish calendar by reading Abigail Pogrebin’s book, “My Jewish Year: 18 Holidays, One Wondering Jew.” Pogrebin’s book is an immersive experience aimed at understanding why we do what we do, what keeps Judaism vibrant and relevant, and how this arc of seasons connects us and moves. As Pogrebin notes, the Jewish calendar is one filled with “moments of intermission” and helps us observe a tradition that is “the rope pulling the ancient in today.”
The Rodef Reads subcommittee, chaired by Karen Kaplan and Tena Nauheim, is pleased to announce the appearance of Abigail Pogrebin on Wednesday, May 16, 2018, at 7pm. Please save the date now!
