Good Deeds Day

at Gesher Day School, 4800 Mattie Moore Ct, Fairfax, VA 22030

Be part of a worldwide day of service –an annual celebration of good deeds. All over the world, hundreds of thousands of people choose to volunteer and help others, putting into practice the simple idea that every single person can do something good, be it large or small, to improve the lives of others and positively change the world.

Good Deeds Day started in Israel and is based on the idea that if people will think good, speak good and do good, the circles of good will grow and our world will be a better one.

While Good Deeds Day will be happening all over the world, you can participate close to home! This year, TRS is joining with Beth El, Adat Reyim, Gesher Day School and the JCC of Northern Virginia to host an afternoon of fun and meaningful projects for every age and every interest.

  • The events will be at Gesher Day School — rain or shine.  There will be lots of worthwhile and fun activities for individuals and families to choose from, such as sandwich making and cookie baking for area shelters; sewing pillow cases for pediatric cancer patients; making cards and pictures for the elderly; “no -sew” fleece blankets for toddlers in Early Head Start.  Even the gym will be bustling with basketball fun for Sandy Relief and much, much more!
  • Bring non-perishable food donations – Food for Others will be there to collect your donation.
  • Spread the word with your friends and neighbors and bring them along!
