Do you like working with children? Looking for a summer job?
Camp Rodef Shalom is hiring counselors, sports/art/music/drama/swim specialists, assistant counselors, and C.I.T.s for this summer—anyone age 13 to adult may apply! Camp is a weekday program (dates above) and staff hours are 8:30am-3:30pm daily. Camp is messy, exciting, and fun! If you are interested in working at camp, please apply online here.
Camp Rodef Shalom is a spirited Jewish day camp founded by Rabbi Lazlo Berkowits. Camp is full of traditions celebrated by the many campers who return as counselors. Inflatable pools & waterslides, shaving cream fights, ga-ga (Israeli dodge ball), song sessions, competitions, Shabbat celebrations, and the carnival are among the many favorites. Camp Rodef Shalom is a loud, messy, exciting, big, happy family!
Campers at Rodef Shalom make memories and friends to last a lifetime. Bunks named after a Jewish theme spend their days playing inside & outdoors with a 1-to-4 ratio of qualified staff from local middle and high schools, led by college students and teachers. Adult specialists run music, sports, drama, and art programs which the children attend daily. Children enjoy water play with squirt guns, sprinklers, and inflatable pools, or optional swim lessons.
Yellow school buses take Youth & Pre-C.I.T. campers on weekly field trips to area water parks and pools. Preschool campers enjoy age-appropriate park trips as well as excellent in-house guest entertainment. Chaperones welcome!
Many days during the summer are dress-up days, where we can barely recognize who is who. Pajama Day, Tacky Day, and Purim in July (not to mention Color War Week) give everyone a chance to show their spirit!
In addition to the daily schedule of rotating activities, camp welcomes guests such as clowns, magicians, and musicians to entertain us. We also enjoy events such as our Carnival Cookout (with moon bounce, ferris wheel, ball crawl, and dunk tank, as well as games and prizes), Scavenger Hunt, Lip Sync, and the exciting Pie-Eating Contest! Color War Week and Room Decoration Week are longer competitions that offer campers more time to work together, with award ceremonies for all participants.
Every Friday afternoon finds all of camp in the Sanctuary celebrating Shabbat with songs and stories from our clergy. It’s a time to relax and reflect on another wonderful week together. We also learn a little Hebrew every morning, take time to say blessings before we eat, and each bunk collects donations for a charity of their choice as part of Social Action Shabbat. Forming a positive Jewish experience is an important part of camp.
